The Center of The Pedagogical

Rehabilitation

We are very much interested in cooperation with you!

The Center has been created at Clinic of Belarusian Scientific Research Clinical Institute of Radiation Medicine and Endocrinology in 1996.

The main aim of the Center is an organization of leisure time of the children and teenagers, who have a course of treatment in clinic. Most of them have suffered from thyroid cancer at the result of the Chernobyl disaster.

The children and teenagers periodically stay at the clinics and other medical establishments. Many of them have a hard time being away from their families, friends and schools. As the result, a lot of patients are in a great need of psychological help. It can be provided by using pedagogical methods in medical clinics. Patient's involvement in various creative activities allows them to switch from a negative outlook to positive.

The students-volunteers from Belarusian Pedagogical University work at the Center as teachers.
The Center does not receive state support and exists on donations. Therefore our Committee requires help. If our activity is interesting for your, let us know. We will tell you about our most important rehabilitation projects. We are interested in cooperation with private persons and organizations very much.

At the beginning the Center was located in a 20 sq. m room. Two students-volunteers worked with the children. Now the Center settles down on 300 sq. meters and 5 students-volunteers work as teachers in it.

In 2001 new rooms of the Center were equipped thanked to the material support of the Japanese Fund "Children of Chernobyl".

About 250 children and teenagers stay at the clinic because of their heavy diagnoses.
