History of the organization:
The
Belarusian Committee "Children of Chernobyl" (the first non-governmental
organization in Belarus) was created in May 1986,
within the first days after the catastrophe at the Chernobyl
Atomic Power Station. 
It was registered in the Ministry of Justice of Belarus in 1990.
Tamara Belookaya was the first Chairman of the Committee. She headed the Committee within 15 years.
The founders are doctors, teachers, scientists, journalists etc.
Now Olga Gornostaeva is the Chairman.
